Hi All,

I have an Access app I want to distribute as a runtime app for every

Windows OS since 98SE. I own Access 2002 Developer, so I'm good with the

licensing. I had troubles trying to customize the packaging wizard, so chose

to use a third party installer (Tarma).

I have a package that works. I install the following packages, in the

following order.

hhupd.exe System Help

mdac_type.exe Data Access Components

vbrun60sp6.exe VB Runtime

OSP.msi System Files

accessrt.msi Access Runtime

I'm concerned that I might be installing unnecessary or redundant

files, or packages in the wrong order. Can anyone verify that what I'm doing

makes sense? Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks, Max

Hi Max,

order looks ok. but you have to install first 4 only if you really use them,

else Access Runtime should be enough. Actually you can do some testing using

virtual PC and check if all required components are there

Thanks, Alex. Honestly, I don't recall why I have everything installing

separately and with the runtime, too. I'll do some more testing, and see if

I can do without those things.

So far, I've done my testing using a couple of dual boot PCs. I'll take a

closer look at Virtual PC. It looks like it might be a nicer way to go

(having everything in one place).
