I want to migrate an access database with a special administator userid and

password. How can I specify the mdw file, the administrator userid and

password?

In general SSMA does not support converting Access files that are workgroup

protected.

To workaround the problem:

1)Copy the Access database file to another location

2)Open the copied database.

3)Give Administer privilege to the Users group and to the Admin user on

all objects(Database,tables,Queries)

4)Quit Access.

Now use SSMA to migrate the copied database and secure (manually) the

database on SQL Server.

This might be a feature to consider adding. I don't know how

difficult that code would be to add to your tool but suspect it'd be

doable.

Agree. The main focus of the next release(around 10/30/2006) will be queries

migration but maybe we can squeeze in some small enhancements like this

If desired I'm sure the MVPs can come up with the necessary form and

ten lines of code. <smile> As I've never worked with security I'm

not at all sure what those lines of code actually are.

Well, you'd also need a browse button to locate the MDW file with an

API call in behind. But any developer should know how to do that.
