Yes you can but I don“t know if this is supported. With 2.5 we had an
installation where we get an official answer to one of our problem
reports where we run the application as 2.5 with SP1 and the AOS and the
clients with 2.5 SP4.
If you run an AOS the AOS must run the same build as the clients so
wyour application can be 3.0 SP1 and you may use the SP1/2/3/4/5 kernel
incl. the AOS. Probably the upgrade wizard may appear after you changed
the kernel as Axapta determines the need of this wizard by comparing the
version string.
If you use the client from kernel rollup 1 or 2 you cannot use older
kernels. You have to run a database repair before you cannot mix the
older kernels with the rollup ones.
