8/14/2006 5:31:02 AM    Slow Download from SBS 2000 Server
Please help. Our office has SBS 2000 with a Dell PowerEdge 2600.

Uploading from workstation to server is pretty fast (56Mbps), but

downloading from the server is extremely slow (2.4Mbps). These numbers

are fairly consistent during business hours and after business hours.

I have added 2GB of memory and a 15,000 RPM hard drive to the server

recently and neither has helped. Workstation to workstation is

consistently 72Mbps, so I am fairly certain that it is not a switch

issue. I have also changed the CAT 5e. I have a 3com switch.

I have checked MS's website and searched Google extensively to no

avail. I have found a resolution for the opposite situation (fast

download from the server, but slow upload to the server), but that's

not going to help. I hope you guys can help. Let me know if you need

more info.

Thanks,

mb

1. I disabled all third party apps. Completely disabled Norton

Corporate Edition 10 and any other processor/memory/network hogs.

2. I set the SBS server nic to 100Mbps duplex and my client to 100Mbps

duplex. I am unable to change right now as it would disconnect the

network for everybody.

Thank you for your thoughts and look forward to more,

Make sure the antivirus software on the clients isn't set to scan "network"

files.

Let's see what happens when you reboot after disabling SMB signing.
