Hello.

Win SBS2000 with all latest updates and service packs, one NIC, DSL Modem,

Zyxel Zywall 10, Netgear FS116 switch, Static IP.

We are constantly getting a System Log Event ID 8003, Source: MRxSmb. I

tried working it out using EventID.org, but none of the suggestions helped

in resolving this problem. Here is the text:

"The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer

TIMMY that believes it is the master browser for the domain on transport

NetBT_Tcpip_{DEC7EC58-28C0-4FD7-89A. The master browser is stopping or an

election is being forced."

Does anybody know how to fix this error ?

Thanks,

Tony

In article <#yA0LwUwGHA.4460@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl>, "Tony Girgenti"

<tony(nospam)@lakesideos.com> says...

If you have the Resource Kit (???) you can try this:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=188305

This also might help:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/135464/EN-US/

If you find it's an offending workstation that is attempting to become

the master browser, then edit the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM

\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters\MaintainServerList

registry key from Auto or Yes to False. (Don't do that to your Server!
