I'm having problems with 3 of my 4 protected servers. I've got KB910330 and
KB911169 installed on my DPM. 1.3TB of 1.8TB storage pool is unassigned.
Here are my problems:
1) Exchange server runs a scheduled local NTbackup of store and has just the
folder with this daily BKF output protected. After running a week, I only
have a single recovery file on DPM. The previous files go missing every
night without an error or complaint. Sometimes there are three available,
sometimes none.
2) SQL1 server runs a daily scheduled local backup of a database and local
data files (Autocad Vault) and just the folder with this result is
protected. Again, only a single recovery is available today. Sometimes more,
sometimes none. No errors, no data.
3) SQL4 server runs daily scheduled backup job along with 8 logfile backups
for a total of 7 days of rolling backups available in the protected folder.
Today I've got 3 days of files, but should have a week. Also I get errors:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: DPM-EM
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1
Date: 8/7/2006
Time: 9:00:17 AM
User: N/A
Computer: MSDPM
Description:
The replica of C:\ on SQL4 is inconsistent with the protected data source.
All protection activities for data source will fail until the replica is
synchronized with consistency check. (ID: 3106)
The DPM File Agent is no longer tracking changes on C:\ on SQL4. (ID: 107)
DPM PS ID: f0e4b601-616d-4a5b-9583-1c7a558e5830:2^|^SQL4^|^Replica is

Resync and all is well again.
4) FILEserver with about 200GB in 250K files looks to be working fine. No
errors. I've got 13 days of backups plus shadows.
Each server is in its own protection group. There are no request for
additional pool allocations. In order to protect the failing datasets, I'm
making a copy of each problem server's protected directory onto the
FILEserver. This works, but doubles the network traffic.
