DPM has this nice option to Install, update or deinstall the agents.

Unfortunately, we did the following:

We just deleted the old DPM server out of ADS, formatted it and installed

DPM / Server 2003 again on it.

The result was, that we had to uninstall every agent manually.

And then, tell DPM to install the agent again.

That way, it would be nice to have a "repair" oder somekind of function in t

he DPM console.

We do support uninstall and install (i.e. re-install) of an agent for

machines to which DPM has deployed its agents. In this case the DPM server

was re-built so DPM has no knowledge that it previously "owned" these

agents. 1 DPM Server cannot manager or uninstall the agents of another DPM

server due to security restrictions.

Hope this explains.

.... Both you, Karan, and alpha-centauri have very good reasons........

Personally, I feel this feature is vvveerrryyy good... and would

definitely definitely definitely help the usability... but there would also

have to be security compromises.... which personally I don't like... but

there really should be a compromise here.

..... I think I'll take this offline with you & others Karan....

Thanks alpha-centauri!
