7/31/2006 6:55:02 PM    Cut off fonts and strange white space?
This error is occuring in DIP 10 and DIS 2006. I have a 3x2" canvas with an

image and some text. However the text in a certain font is being cut off, for

example a capital T will cut off part of the top of the T so it looks like a

7 instead of a T. Doesn't seem to matter at what % i'm viewing at. I try to

drag the text around the canvas and its as if I have a sliced layer or

something where the T will then be partially hidden (a white slice covering

it) and part of it still showing. Very bizarre! This is happening to two

particular fonts. Problem also exists when I go to print, it will still cut

it off. I have plenty of memory, disk space, etc. I tried recreating the

problem with Adobe Elements 7 and PSP and could not reproduce the problem

with those programs. So what gives? I'm on XP platform if that helps. And

if I try to move the text across the canvas, its as if its dragging or

stretching out the text, like leaving a trail then when view at a different %

it goes back to normal.

Another issue is one of my fonts (not ones in the problem above) is not

being recognized by DIS 2006, it shows up at boxes instead of the actual

font. No problem in other programs, only in DIS 2006.

Help! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is the text box the top layer?

Last time I've seen problem like this, it was caused by defective font.

Funny enough, problem didn't show up in all programs, only in some of them.

If a font shows up as boxes it means it can probably only be used in either

UPPERCASE letters or lowercase but not both. Fonts also do that if there

are no numbers or certain symbols included.

I had the problem with the text being cut off at the top today. I used the

mouse scroll to zoom out then zoom back in and the text then looked fine. I

put it down to having overworked the computer today (using a lot of

filters/plugins). My saved work was fine as was the printed one.

In my case, uninstalling and reinstalling wouldn't change anything because

the problem was that font structure itself was wrong. That is, person who

created the font did't do it quite well. In my case, I was able to pass

font files to a person who know how to work with fonts and have a

dedicated font editor. He told me something about "wrong bounding boxes"

or something, I'm not sure because most of the message was constructed

from obscene words, and returned the files with slightly different

filesize that worked perfectly. I had this problem several times with

different fonts from different sources.
