What on earth is SDTable

mullet posted on Thursday, November 05, 2009 1:10 AM

there is already a post here about this but it is very strange as the
original post and reply appear excatly in every forum that covers this
topic including microsoft forums.

I replyed as jason mallet in the egghead forums and my reply turned up
in all of the forums even here and I had'nt registered here at that
stage but back to the topic.

There is a Regkey entry that is happening on boot it is RegKey SDTable
found in the reg at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\Installers\RegKey
SDTable I have searched microsoft for what this entry is with no results
and contacted them and they had no idea I had to get put through to a
technicain to get told if this is a legit reg entry. The reason why I
say to find out if it is a legit entry is it presents itself as a
windows update when you boot it says it has a new reg entry then it goes
to the windows config update screen but I did'nt confirm any windows
update install and there is no history of the update in the windows
update history.

As I said in the other forum I have done config and clean install and
it keeps reinstalling itself usually if something like this has
something to do with microsoft you can find some reference to it on ms
website somewhere but with this there is nothing except for this same
question and answer thats at every forum in relation to this topic and
again if you reply to one of the forums your reply is turning up in all
the forums whether you are registered or not.

Can anyone please tell me what this thing is I have done onecare.live
scan didnt pick it up tried malwarebytes spybot and have deleted it
manually from the registry and it keeps reinstalling.

Hi, Mullet.Wow! Now we are getting second generation slurping/leeching!

Hi, Mullet.

Wow! Now we are getting second generation slurping/leeching! Our posts will
be spreading like a flu virus. :>(

The "forum" (TechArena?) where you posted your message, probably made you
choose a username and password, giving the appearance of "belonging" and at
least "exclusivity" - and probably of some security, too. And then, the
forum simply forwarded your post to the worldwide insecure public Usenet,
specifically to the Microsoft public news server - where I am reading it in
the microsoft.public.windows.vista.general newsgroup. Since these
newsgroups are open to everyone, it is not surprising that my post - and
yours - appear in every other "forum" that also chooses to slurp posts from
the Microsoft servers. So, our messages appear in the Microsoft newsgroups
AND in TechArena and MANY other forums, including those that you DID NOT
subscribe to. (And they all collect revenue from sources such as "Ads by
Google", making money from the messages we post freely.)

Welcome to the world of Usenet! ;<)

If you would like to "cut out the middleman" and post directly to this Microsoft
news server, which is free and does not require you to log on, just click
here:

That will connect you to this same newsgroup, reading the same messages (Hi,
again, Desmond!), but using your newsreader, rather than your browser.

But, no, I do not know anything about SDTable.  :^{
